“New York City... a city for Christ.” We pray these words nearly every Sunday at C3 Church Manhattan. This may not be the first thing people think of when they consider New York, a city more often graced with nicknames like ‘Gotham’, ‘the Big Apple’ or ‘the city that never sleeps’. But across this incredible and diverse city, live great people who believe that this city - which serves as headquarters for finance, fashion and media - can also be a city where people experience the great love of Jesus in a whole new way.
We have just celebrated our 10-year anniversary as a church - 10 years of praying, believing and building the Kingdom of God together in New York - and we know the journey is just beginning.
As we launch into our second decade, we are absolutely thrilled to welcome J.John to New York City for his first just10 event in the United States. At our Sunday services over five weeks in July and August 2010, J.John will take us ‘back to the basics’ - the incredible, life-changing, life-giving wisdom of the Ten Commandments.
We are so excited for this significant moment in the life of our church and of New York City. We are honoured to have J.John hold a just10 series here, not simply because the message is amazing, but because we know he shares with us a deep love for the people of our city. What an honour to partner with a man of God who joins us in not only our vision but also our love for this city. It is a great encouragement to have J.John and the whole community around the Philo Trust praying with us for New York.
J.John visited our church for the first time on the Sunday before Easter in 2009. In the morning we had an incredible time of equipping as he shared with our church members how to evangelise. Our members have been talking about this message ever since. The amount of wisdom and practical tools for sharing the gospel imparted that day cannot be quantified. We have seen our members step into a whole new realm of reaching out. J.John’s message gave them not only a call but also a confidence like never before to share about the love of God.
What a life-changing morning - followed by an evening that forever changed the lives of many more people. At our evening service, J.John shared the gospel with a packed house, and more than 40 people committed their lives to Christ.
C3 Church is committed to building vibrant local churches in the heart of the great cities of the world. We teach our members how to live a God-style lifestyle - a life in which they are connected to God and to others; they are serving and they are reaching out to the people in their world. We are passionate about building a church that is diverse on every level and represents the Kingdom of God.
As we prayerfully prepare for J.John’s first US just10 mission series this summer, we have fixed our eyes on Jesus and this great vision for our church and our city. We ask that you will pray with us: that hundreds of people will meet Jesus and get planted in the local church, both at C3 and the other great churches in New York City; that believers in the city will be equipped to reach out and see their vital role in fulfilling the Great Commission; and that people from every walk of life would know they are not only part of the family of God, but also completely welcome in his house.
